Framework & Act 1


Hello everyone! Just wanted to give an update regarding this project.

I've been hard at work creating a scalable framework for the game, and I've finally gotten to the dreaded content stage of development. I thought I'd give a sneak peek of some of the work that I've done and let everyone know my plans.

The Master's Journey will soon be releasing a free demo of the first act of the game!

Now that I've got you're attention, let's talk about game design! My last game, Master of the House, was a unit-placement tower assault game where you could rescue maids and get steamy scenes with them. The Master's Journey will take a different approach, and instead focus on more of a traditional visual novel. Of course, I do not have the bandwidth to make an incredibly long experience, so The Master's Journey won't be super lengthy. That said, I have been working diligently on several systems that will help make development go smoothly.

QUESTS!

Quests are super modular! I spent a lot of time making a system that would fit in Unity and allow me to quickly change/add new quests. This quest system will be essential for keeping the game open to explore at your own pace. At the moment, there are five quests planned for the demo, with each maid receiving one in addition to a tutorial quest. As I add more systems into the game, the quest system will likely need some tweaks, but for right now it's working great!

STORY!

This game is not just an arcade game like Master of the House! This game will feature a narrative that progresses as you complete quests with each of the maids and explore different parts of the house. I've already got the outline of the game completed, and I'm using an external program to help me add and localize the game. If everything goes according to plan, the game will have multiple written translations and even voice acting!

H-SCENES!

Static images? In my visual novel? I don't THINK so! This game will have fully animated scenes similar to the ones found in Master of the House. This time though, the scenes will have additional context, and there will be a much larger quantity of them! With new locations comes new opportunity! These scenes will mostly be vanilla... But I've got some plans for other content down the line.


I'm working very hard to progress on this project, and I'm sure there will be more information about the demo soon enough. I'd love to give a date, but I'd just end up delaying it because game-dev is hell. I'll tentatively say to expect more news within the next three months.
